About
Jacqueline Plein is a visual artist and designer based in New York City. Plein works primarily in oil, but takes a broad experimental approach to her creative work, experimenting with digital art, poetry, and collage to deepen her practice. She explores the tension between expectation - that of romance, youth in the city, beauty, and intelligence – and lived experience. Through expressive brushwork and heightened colors, Plein looks for the real inside the abstract. Possessing a strong visual memory, Plein often uses the personal moments that stick with her as inspiration for her work, then layers abstract elements to convey the confusion of memory. Plein has studied at Pratt Institute and the Art Student’s League in New York City and the Barcelona Academy of Art.
A multidisciplinary creative, Plein spends much of her professional life working in graphic and interior design. She has worked in fabrication and marketing, writing and branding.
